Woodhill Hall - A Delightfully Different Venue!

I'm immensely proud to have been invited to be a recommended supplier at this great venue . I always love working at venues like Woodhill because it lends itself to lots of different styles, and this allows me the freedom to really tailor the flowers to the bride's needs. Woodhill is fast becoming one of the region's wedding hotspots and we're being asked to work there more and more often. With the ceremony taking place in their beautiful orangery, the happy couple could enjoy the stunning Otterburn countryside views that Woodhill offers.

So today i'm going to tell you about how this wonderful venue can be made to look very different depending on the decor. Both of the following wedding's were so pretty! Lianne & Lee opted for blush pinks and a very natural look, they even hired our Rose Trees to create a focal pont during the ceremony, which I have to say finished off the Orangery room perfectly! Their day was expertly captured by Jamie Penfold Photography

For Jo & Graham's table centres, the bride had collected an array of vintage bottles, jars and vases for me to fill, lending a pleasing variation to each table. To get the right colour scheme, I used David Austin Roses, Waxflower, Peonies, Hypericum berries and peach spray roses. These spray roses are a personal favourite, since they were used in my own wedding last year, so I always love the chance to work with them again! Her bouquet certainly attracted a lot of adoring looks and compliments on the day!

However the beauty of a place like Woodhill is that it suits all sorts of styles. Back in April 2015, I worked on a wedding there for McKenna & Stephen that couldn't have been more different. Huge frames were made over the tables, which we dressed with Eucalyptus, Succulents, Hellibores, Artichoke and trailing Amaranthus, and then hung gold lanterns to finish the look. The impressive frames complemented the simple effectiveness of the orangery and its beautiful surroundings. It also complemented the bride's stunning Claire Pettibone dress and the day was expertly captured by GASP Photography.

So for me, it's a real pleasure working at a venue in such lovely surroundings, but which allows me to really express myself and do the best I can for the happy couple, without worrying about clashing with the venue's colours or style. Be it subtle pastels in jars, huge decorative frames or something as simple as bright colourful flowers mounted on log slices, working with a blank slate in a beautiful setting can be one of the most satisfying things for a florist.
